07.05.2014 | RONNIE SPECTOR IN SAN FRANCISCO!
Ronnie has proven to be the ultimate rock n' roll survivor and an artist whose voice defines an entire era of pop music. Her style and sound have influenced everyone from Joey Ramone and Bruce Springsteen to Amy Winehouse and The Raveonettes. As the lead singer of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Ronettes, she pioneered a female daringness and performance style that did not previously exist – with their sexually-charged persona, The Ronettes were the first women in rock to do for boys in the audience what Elvis did for girls. In the five-years they were together, they generated hugely successful singles including "Be My Baby," "Baby I Love You" and "Walking In The Rain." Ronnie's biography, Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness, was released in 1990 and became an international bestseller. In 1999 Ronnie released She Talks to Rainbows; an EP produced by Joey Ramone, on the indie label, Kill Rock Stars. On Saturday July 5th 2014 she'll be making a rare San Francisco appearance at a tiny rock club. Get your tickets here!____________________________
06.06.2014 | WOUNDED LION IN OAKLAND!
Wounded Lion has pulled itself out of the LA gutter and bestowed us with the best recordings to date. It's their sophomore release that brings us more garage glam meets Wipers sludge goodness. This here is a powerful slab of off-kilter art punk of the highest order…the type you've come to expect from In The Red. Aspects of the right types of power-pop and glam work their way between the art-punk backbone. This isn't yr dad's punk record. This isn't yr brother's punk record. It's a punk record for the kids of today!____________________________
02.03.2014 | CHEAP TIME IN OAKLAND!
Hailing from Tennessee, Cheap Time have been around in one incarnation or another since 2006. Jeffrey Novak writes and sings the songs, as well as plays guitar and keyboard on the recordings. The band began with a sound of a teen punk band but by the time they group recorded their debut album, Novak brought in influences of 70's glam and power pop. The band followed this up with a sophomore album, Fantastic Explanations (and Similar Situations), that was darker, moodier and more complex than Cheap Time's early sound. The third album, Wallpaper Music, received rave reviews and the band have been touring constantly for the past year, most recently with legendary Mudhoney. Back on the road in early 2014 Cheap Time will be touring on yet another new album, Exit Smiles, and will be playing both sides of the bay on February 3rd at Eli's Mile High in Oakland, and on February 4th at SF's Knockout!____________________________
01.07.2014 | RIP IT UP WITH THE SPITS!
Smashing windows and tearing down the walls of our minds every time they roll through town, THE SPITS are truly vicious visionaries that have cooked punk down to its most powerful base form. Crawling like Neanderthals through the muck, they have created a flaming trail of hits that'll take quite a fit of dementia to ever forget. A perfect distillation of punk's original open-ended weirdness, and forever favorites at Total Trash, THE SPITS, kick off 2014 live at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco CA!____________________________
11.20.2013 | GET YER FLAME ON WITH THE GROOVIES!
The Flamin' Groovies are San Francisco's quintessential rock & roll band. They began in the late 1960's, and were founded by Ron "The Ripper" Greco, Cyril Jordan and Roy A. Loney. The band had a sly sense of humor and a musical approach that continued to draw upon '50s rock and roll as well as upon the work of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. In 1971 Roy Loney left the Flamin Groovies, and was replaced by singer and guitarist Chris Wilson, who, along with Jordan, began to move the group in a more overtly power-pop direction. The group played through the 1970's and 80's and later disbanded. In late 2009 they got back together and will be playing Oakland for the first time since reuniting, November 20th 2013 at Oakland's New Parish!____________________________
